Jefferson High’s wrestlers traveled to Florence on Dec. 21 for a mixer with Florence-Carlton, Darby, Stevensville and Superior. The sickness and injury bug had hit the Panthers hard, and they were able to suit up just 13 of 22 team members.
In the opening round, Dylan Mikesell at 120 pounds, Nik Richard at 126, Dayton Brown at 132, Andrew Rodriguez at 182, and Brayden Tarr and Brady Armstrong at 205 all won, with all but Brown doing so by pin.
In the second, Mikesell, Leighton LaFromboise at 126 pounds, Megan Anderson at girls 138, Blake Nordlinder at 138, Mike Richard at 152, and Armstrong all won by pin.
Freshman Drake Butala and 8th-graders Spencer Abbott and Russell Douglas also competed for the Panthers.
Brayden Tarr scored the quick pin on the evening, stapling his opponent in 31 seconds.
At the break, Dylan Mikesell leads the Panthers with 22 wins on the season, followed by Brown with 20, Armstrong with 19, Cooper Mikesell with 18, Mike Richard with 14 and Kolbe Michaud with 11. In the pin category, Armstrong leads with 18; Brown has 17, Dylan Mikesell 16, Cooper Mikesell 13, Richard with 12 and Michaud with 10.
Jefferson will be back in action for a mixer Jan. 4 in Cascade, followed by the Cut Bank Tournament Jan. 5-6.
