Wrestlers end regular season at Anaconda, Townsend

After a long month marked by a raft of injuries and constant travel, Jefferson High’s wrestlers were looking forward to a relatively relaxed week before heading into the divisional tournament. Short jaunts to Anaconda and Townsend fit that bill.

In Anaconda on Jan. 22, the Panthers flexed their muscles, marching to a comfortable 45-9 dual-team victory in front of a hostile crowd in the “Snake Pit.” Leo Anderson, Christian Davis, Michael Mitchell, Cody St. Clair, Braeden Jones, Talon DeMers, Drake Schake and Coen Guisti all won their matches, with Anderson, St. Clair, Jones, DeMers, Schake and Guisti taking their opponents by pin.

Two days later, Jefferson traveled to Townsend for their final competition of the regular season, a mixer including Deer Lodge, Highwood, Manhattan and Three Forks. Only seven Panthers suited up, allowing many athletes an opportunity to rest before the divisionals.
