The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has requested investigative assistance after a woman’s body was found near Jefferson City Sunday. Initial indications were that the cause of death was suspicious but that there was no immediate threat to the public.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office requested the investigative assistance of the Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to assist with the suspicious death of an adult female found roadside near Jefferson City. A citizen discovered the body Sunday morning and alerted public safety officials.
Local ambulance responded and contacted law enforcement after making initial assessments on scene that indicated the death was suspicious. Confirmation of identity and cause/manner of death is pending until an autopsy is performed, which was scheduled for late Monday. As of Tuesday morning press time, no autopsy results had been released.
