Nasty winter storms took their toll on the Boulder Junior High wrestling team’s last week. Snow and cold forced cancellations of mixers at Townsend and Butte, leaving just a trip to Dillon March 3 Jaycee Wrestling Tournament – which itself was decimated by the weather, with just half of the 400 registered entrants actually showing.
For Boulder, five athletes braved the cold to wrestle in the final competition of the season: Cole Jeske at 90 pounds, Keaton Poulsen at 120, Jeyden Sullivan at 138, Hunter Steele at 153 and Dylan Alexander at 165.
All five advanced from the first round, with Sullivan and Poulsen winning by pin. In the semi-finals, Poulsen and Sullivan once again notched pins to make the finals. Jeske, Steele, and Alexander dropped to the consolation semifinals, but all three advanced to the bracket finals, Steele by pin.
