The Montana High School Rodeo Association (MHSRA) and the Western Legacy Center (WLC) have announced plans for a Montana High School Rodeo Hall of Fame in Whitehall.

The center, to be based at the WLC and now in its early design phase, will be the U.S.’ first high school rodeo hall of fame. “This is a perfect place to put some of our outstanding members on full display to the rest of the world,” said Denver Gilbert, MHSRA president.

The MHSRA, along with similar bodies in 41 states, 5 Canadian provinces, Australia, and Mexico that make up the National High School Rodeo Association, aims to promote rodeo to high school and junior high school students across the state.

Whitehall’s Western Legacy Center was established in 2022 as a museum, promoting the history of the west, primarily Montana. Current displays focus on rodeo, ranching, railroads, wildlife, mining, art, and Lewis & Clark.
