Summer is here with warm weather, long days and plenty of sunshine. The perfect time of year for county residents to enjoy events for all ages.
The Circus is coming to town. The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will be at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Boulder on Friday, June 28. Showtimes are 5 and 7:30 p.m. C&M Circus features big cats, a trapeze artist, horse riders, a tightrope walker, foot juggling, Leo the circus clown and much more. The circus is fun for the entire family!
Circus day actually starts at 9:30 a.m. with the tent raising and tour. Everyone is invited to watch the big top rise, tour the grounds and get a behind the scenes look at the show. The circus midway opens at 4 p.m. with pony rides, the Moon Bounce, giant slide, face painting and more. The shows at 5 and 7:30 are 90 minutes.
And there is more! Along with the circus, the carousel will be operating before and between shows. Bring the family for tons of fun! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Boulder/Bull Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. Tickets circus day are $16 for adults and $9 for youngsters (2-12) and seniors (65+)
An annual tradition in Boulder is the 4th of July parade down Main Street. Once again, the parade steps off at noon, beginning at Veterans Park. It makes a turn at the high school and returns to the park. Anyone who wants to be part of the parade can participate. Bring your car, float, truck, horse or unique group. Entries line up at Veterans Park beginning at 11:30 a.m. Following the parade, head down to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds and enjoy the carousel. Thanks to our great volunteers who operate the carousel for these special events. Celebrate the 4th of July in Boulder! At dusk fireworks will light up the Boulder sky. The fireworks are presented by the Boulder Kiwanis and the Boulder/Bull Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
The Boulder Area Chamber of Commerce Farmer’s Market is open for business beginning Thursday, July 11 and will be open every Thursday (weather permitting) through September at Veterans Park. Thanks as always to Connie Grenz for all of her hard work at the Farmer’s Market. Make sure you stop by any Thursday through September and take advantage of some great bargains! Another great Jefferson County Event is the annual Whitehall Frontier Days July 26 and 27 presented by the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce.
