Today I stopped my car for a girl crossing the street She wore a sweater the particular orange of Fall leaves And the sun danced on her ripened wheat hair

I felt sad that she should leave so soon When suddenly she turned and smiled at me

With topaz eyes and teeth like pearls And I felt as rich as Autumn
