Top JHS grads step boldly into the future

Jefferson High School’s three valedictorians, Madelynn Averill, Tyson Lee, and Dominic Hurlbert, along with salutatorian Jed Williams, are confident that their academic success has prepared them for a bright future.

Excited for life after graduation and reflecting on their time at JHS, the seniors felt that the support they have received from teachers and coaches would give them a boost. All four grads’ best high school memories involved sports.

Lee came in second individually at the state golf tournament this month, while the JHS boys’ team won its second consecutive state championship and third in four years. Averill, Hurlbert, and Williams are all track and field athletes, and Hurlbert pointed to last year’s state track meet as his best high school memory, citing the team’s unity and sense of purpose. The team won its fourth state title in a row and Hurlbert took third place in the 3200m race.
