Alumni from the JHS Class of 1966 made a contribution to the Industrial Technology program at Jefferson High to have a bench made in honor of their class. Under the direction of instructor David Heimann, industrial technology Welding 3 students Latrice Vossler, Tristan Edmiston, and Meagan Graber took on the task. Students harvested a tree and milled the logs with a chain- sawmill. After rough sawing the log, the boards were taken to Montana City’s Walt Schuele, who graciously re-sawed the log at no cost to the students at his local sawmill. In the welding shop, students fabricated metal legs and a metal inlay in memory of the Class of ‘66. The wood seat and back were stained with Sikkens wood finish (courtesy of Helena Paint) and three clear coats of Old Masters (courtesy of Danzer’s Paint) were applied. Lastly, the bench was assembled and placed on the campus of JHS in memory of the Class of 1966.
