Swallows in flight win fairground fight

Score another one for Nature.

A year ago, Jefferson County tried to fend off hundreds of barn swallows that have for decades made their summer homes under the eaves of the granary building at the county fairgrounds. It failed. In fact, the attempt may have attracted even more birds. 

So this year, the county waved the white flag. County Events Director Bruce Binkowski concedes that the swallows are “just a part of the fairgrounds now.”
