Suspects in shooting at deputy plead not guilty

Two of three men charged in connection with shooting at a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy last November pleaded not guilty in Jefferson County Fifth Judicial District Court last Wednesday.

Michael J. Holloway, 36, of Kalispell was charged with attempted deliberate homicide and Shannon J. Marengo, 29, of Whitefish with accountability for attempted deliberate homicide in relation to the Nov. 13 incident in which Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Grimsrud was fired at, court records state. The two men pleaded not guilty to their respective charges on June 5.

Both men are in custody in the Jefferson County Detention Center with bond set at $500,000 each, a jail roster states. A trial date of Dec. 16 has been set for both men, according to court minutes.
