During an internal review of the Boulder Senior Center’s by-laws and records, a deed was discovered that, in the event of the Senior Center’s abandonment or dissolution, would give the CIty of Boulder full ownership of the building, as well as any facilities or improvements attached to it.
“We can decide what to do with it should the Senior Center ever shut down,” said Boulder City Councilwoman Pat Lewis during the Council’s Sept. 16 meeting. “Not that that’ll happen anytime soon… if ever!”
Lewis also confirmed that no additional contracts or clarifying documents have been discovered that elucidate additional agreements or stipulations between Boulder and the Senior Center. She said the deed was brought before the Council as a formality, in order to give the City future standing to claim the property should the Senior Center close permanently.
