Basketball season started for the Jefferson Panthers Saturday as they hosted Choteau.

The Lady Panthers kicked off the season with a 37-24 win over the visiting Bulldogs. During the first quarter, both teams showed first game jitters. Two and a half minutes elapsed with only one point on the scoreboard, a free throw by Choteau, before Ellie Evertz got the Panthers started with a bucket midway through the quarter. Aubrey McMaster hit a pair of free throws and the Panthers held a 4-1 lead at the halfway point in the quarter.

The next five points went to Choteau, but Leah Vossler put a halt to that run by stealing the ball and scoring. Evertz connected on a free throw and the Panthers held a 7-6 lead at the end of one.
