We are heading into a huge weekend in Boulder and for sports at Jefferson High School. First the In-County Rodeo kicks off on Friday afternoon with Jefferson County residents competing in goat tying, team penning, ladies breakaway, steer riding [14 years old and under], ribbon roping, ladies barrel racing, cow riding [15 years and up], ladies cow riding, team roping, team branding. Always a lot of fun for all. The kids events start at Friday at 9 a.m., kids’ horse show, kids’ parade, coloring contest, corn contest, stick horse rodeo, treasure hunt, inflatable slides and you name it give kids and adults something to be proud of. Saturday and Sunday is the action-packed NRA rodeo, one of the best rodeos in Montana with a local flair and great home town hospitality. It is always a great time with food and drink for everyone.
The annual car show is on Saturday at Veterans Park; usually around 80 cars and trucks are shined up and showing the glitter of expensive paint. Food is available there and it is put on by the Boulder Area Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday morning the JHS cross country meet takes place. Walkthrough is from 8:15-9:15 a.m., JV girls run at 9:30, JV boys at 10:00, Varsity girls at 10:30, Varsity boys at 11:00. Some races may be combined depending on numbers. The start and finish lines are in back of the City Shop at Veterans Park.
