What happened to summer? Just feels like a week ago that school got out at Jefferson High School. It has been very busy at the school getting the building cleaned, waxed and ready for another school year. With a little luck it will all come together and be ready for 2017-2018 school year.

There will be a parents meeting at the school on August 7 at 6 p.m. This is for parents who have children who plan on playing football, volleyball, cross country or being on the cheer team. It is important to be there are papers that must be signed by the parent before the season begins. Players must have a physical, parent consent and concussion forms before any practice can take place. No exceptions allowed.

Practice begins on August 11th with two-a-days for football and volleyball. Cross country will practice in the mornings only, and cheer will do one-a-day also. JHS will run busses for practice. The first football game will be August 25th.

The Panthers will play Florence with the game being played at the University of Montana Griz Stadium. This game will start at 7:30 p.m. It should be a great experience for the players and fans, so please plan on attending.

The first cross country meet is August 26th in Boulder. Start time is 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Park in Boulder.

The first volleyball action is August 26th when the Panthers travel to Manhattan for a tournament. JV and varsity compete at this tournament. Action starts at 9:00 a.m. and goes most of the day.

Rodeo time in Boulder is August 25-27. The In County rodeo kicks off on August 25th, and NRA Pro Rodeo action is August 26th and 27th.

The annual Boulder Area Chamber of Commerce car show is August 26th.

Jefferson High will have new bleachers this year. They were to be installed starting in middle July but now the start date is August 7th. School personnel are crossing their fingers that they will be place in time for the first practice on August 11th. Backup plans have been made thanks to the willingness of Clancy and Montana City schools to let the volleyball team use their gyms.
