Jefferson High’s golfers were able to get in some action last week, with the varsity playing at Bridger Creek in the Manhattan meet and the JV playing at Three Forks. Josh Eckmann led the Panthers in the varsity meet with an 89. Teammates Cole Oie and Henry Goehring scored a 105 and a 154, respectively. In the JV meet Natalee Stout shot a 68. Taden Hanson led the boys with a 46 for nine holes. Panther Andy Johnson tallied a 57, followed by Hayden Guisti at 61, Griffin Bullock at 76, and Zach Carter at 93. This will be a busy week on the links. The teams competed at Cottonwood on Monday and Tuesday and the varsity will be at Ennis on Saturday for a 9 a.m. start. 

TRACK AND FIELD Teams from Classes A, B and C were on hand for the large meet in Belgrade Saturday, and the Panthers fared well against the tough competition. Josh Eckmann took third in the high jump at 6’ even, and teammate Avery Stiles was fourth at 5’10”. Panthers who did not place but finished with high marks for the Panthers: Mead Blake 12.79 in the 100 and 24.95 in the 200; Hunter Henschel ran the 800 in 2:17.69; Isaiah Hesford ran the 1600 in 5:46.37; and Stiles ran the 110 high hurdles in 19.93. The 4X100 relay team of Blake, Stiles, Henschel and Eckmann finished 7th in 47.47 and the 4X400 relay team of Blake, Eckmann, Santana Page and Henschel finished 7th in 3:50.95. In field events, Dalton Rykal threw the shot 35’ 7.50”, Drake Schake tossed the discus 96’5”, and Noah Fader finished 7th in the javelin at 142’9”. Eric Lufkin cleared 9’6” in pole vault, and Stiles had a long jump of 16’11.50” and a triple jump of 39’ even.
