Simenson, Mikesell lead wrestlers in Whitehall

Jefferson High’s wrestling team doesn’t put in much time in its home gym; the nature of the sport is that we spend much of the winter on the road, traveling across the state from one tournament to the next.

So it was gratifying to see a big, energetic crowd for “Pack the House Night” on Dec. 11 in Boulder, cheering the Panthers in their mixer with Cascade, Powell County Deer Lodge and Three Forks.

In a mixer format, individual wrestlers are matched up against opponents in their weight class; team scores aren’t tracked. The Panthers suited up 15 wrestlers for this competition. In the opening round Daxton Terry, Maysa LaFromboise, Isabella Mikesell, Russell Douglas, Caysen Wing and Tellen Simanton were able to secure a victory, all of them by pin.
