She ran out of gas in the right place

Mom was raised in Fargo, ND, and as that town grew so did the pace of crime, gangs, and other dangers. She did not want her three small children living in that harsh city life, and she hoped to slow life down. So she took us west.

We ended up “right here” in Boulder, or “Small Town USA,” as Mom called it. The way she told it was, we were traveling and simply ran out of gas here. But Mom fell in love with these mountains and kind-hearted people, so she decided to stay. 

Mom always had her family out in the mountains that cuddle Boulder. Camping, fishing trips, bonfires, mountain drives — and yes, she even took us up to Little Boulder every Sunday for church.
