Seven wrestlers make podium at Choteau Classic

The Panther wrestling team hit the road again last weekend to join in the Choteau Classic tournament. With 25 Class B and C schools on hand, the Classic is one of the toughest competitions in the state.

Jefferson brought 15 wrestlers to the tournament:  Emma Jurkovac at 100 pounds, Russell Douglas at 118, Maysa LaFromboise at 120, Owen and Mason Mikesell at 132, Megan Anderson at 135, Cooper Mikesell at 144, Mike Richard at 152, Blake Nordlinder at 165, Chrystyan Hogue at 175, Andrew Rodriguez and Cole Christoferson at 190, and Dylan Stevens, Brayden Tarr and Brady Armstrong at 215.

In Friday’s first round of competition, 11 of 15 Panthers advanced. But just five wrestlers won their quarterfinal matches: Jurkovac, Douglas, Anderson, Stevens and Armstrong were able to punch their ticket to the second day and assure themselves at least sixth place.
