Rotary grant helps Montana City Library

Helena Sunrise Rotary member and Rotary District Governor Rick Moore of Montana City checks out one of two grant-funded bookcases for juvenile materials that recently were installed in Montana City Library. The grant monies -- $2,300 from Montana Rotary and Helena Sunrise Rotary, and $1,300 from the Friends of the Library North and the Helena Ice Arena -- also purchased floor mats and nearly 100 new juvenile nonfiction books about astronomy, science and technology. “We are so excited to refresh our juvenile nonfiction collection with these high quality, high interest books especially since our summer reading theme is a ‘Universe of Stories’ emphasizing space and astronomy,” Carly Delsigne, library director, said by email. “Over half of these books are up-to-date space books, and the rest all target those STEM areas that are so important in today’s world.” Delsigne reported that Rotarians processed the book donation as a volunteer project during the Montana State Rotary Conference. The library will kick off its summer reading program from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 11 at Clancy Volunteer Fire Station. Montana Learning Center will present on solar energy from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and hotdogs, popcorn and drinks will be served.
