As a lifelong Montanan and rancher, I have seen how hard U.S. Senator Jon Tester has worked on behalf of Montana. A third-generation dirt farmer from Big Sandy, Tester is the only farmer in the Senate, making him a strong, knowledgeable voice for family farmers and ranchers.
Senator Tester has a proven record of getting results for a wide array of Montana residents and issues. Veterans, educators, retirees, and those needing help finding affordable housing have all received his help. He has worked especially hard to defend Social Security and Medicare, earning the endorsement of multiple groups representing Montana’s older community.
When first elected to the Senate in 2006, Tester brought experience from service in the Montana Legislature, where he was an effective and respected member who moved up into leadership. He also took to Washington, D.C. a sense of fairness fostered by his Montana roots. He believed Montanans ought to know what he was working on and was the first member of the Senate to post his daily schedule.
