Report: Jefferson County second healthiest in state

Jefferson County has the second best health outcomes in Montana, second only to Madison, according to a report released last week.

The report produced by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation looked at 30 different criteria in 47 of Montana’s 56 counties.

According to the report, premature death in Jefferson County is lower than the state average and on a par with the national average. Quality of life, which includes days of poor physical or mental health and low birthweight, is as good or better than statewide and nationwide.
