Proud mule people
To the woman who drove down Montana Highway 69 on Wednesday, July 8. You reported to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department that you saw mules that were being abused. You said they had no water, food or shelter and that they looked sickly. At first this made us mad, and then it made us sad to realize that you must be an equine specialist to see all that we were missing as you drove by at 70 mph, and when we couldn’t see this working hands-on with these mules 365 days a year.
We wanted to meet you. We could learn alot from you. If you are that good, how could you have missed the 11 30-foot spruce trees that provide them shelter from the wind, rain and snow? How did you miss the 15 big cottonwood trees that provide shade in the summer? How could you have missed the 16×42-foot shed with running water that they have access to 24/7, 365 days a year? How could you have missed the covered certified haystack that fills their manger every morning and evening? If you are that good, you should have noticed that Casey just went to the dentist where she had her teeth checked and cleaned. I would have thought you would have noticed Kami just returned from the chiropractor, Daisy just got the first of her two allergy shots for the summer, and that all five mules just had their manes roached and feet trimmed. All five mules are wearing new shoes. Did you notice that not one of those five mules have one white spot on their body from heat, pressure or poor fitting tack, even after hundreds of miles of travel — something they all love to do. You failed to notice, even as good as you are, that they are all current on vaccinations and worming. I would have thought that someone like you would have noticed that not one of them is underweight or overweight. In fact, the vet told us two weeks ago that they are in terrific shape and to keep doing what we’re doing.
