I write with great frustration. Someone apparently believes any church-related poster hung at our U.S. Post Office should be removed.
I was not aware the U.S. Constitution or any laws had changed. I am free to invite the public to any lawful event happening in our community. If you do not care to attend an event at a church facility, you are free to make that choice.
And do not assume that events held at a church or other religious facility are always about religion. For example, the Boulder United Methodist Church has hosted many non-church related events — e.g., blood drives, candidate forums, exercise programs, and kindergarten round-ups — in service to our community since the 1960s. Similarly the Assembly of God and Baptist churches both house food banks.
Whoever is censoring the Post Office’s bulletin boards must stop. It’s not your job or your right. – Debbie Gabse, Boulder
