Panthers take three of four at Three Forks

The high school sports world is headed toward a holiday break — but there’s still some basketball to play! And last weekend, the Jefferson High Panthers traveled to Three Forks for a big early-season tournament, coming away with three wins out of four.

Jefferson opened Friday against Conrad, and the girls picked up where they had left off the week before, dominating the cowgirls, 76-20. Sophomore Parker Layng led the squad with 27 points, and Josie Oxarart added 17.

The Lady Panthers had a tougher time against Shepherd the next day. Still playing with center Ryian Eveland, the girls started slow and were down 4-11 at the end of the first quarter. The action picked up a bit in the second: Brianna Layng hit one of two free throws, and Oxarart sank a two and a three-pointer to close the gap to four points. At the half, Jefferson was down 20-17.
