Panthers close out season at district tourney

Eleven three pointers, including six by Nolan Sonsteng in the first half, were not enough to lift the Jefferson High Panthers to victory in their opening round contest against the Manhattan Tigers at the 5B District Basketball Tournament in Belgrade.

The Thursday contest ended with the Tigers on top 58-50. After leading through three quarters, the Panthers saw their shooting cool while Manhattan heated up in the final quarter.

The game opened with Josh Eckmann at the free throw line on a technical assessed against Manhattan for dunking in the warm ups. He sank both, but the Panther lead soon disappeared as turnovers and missed bunnies put the JHS boys behind 10-2.
