Panthers close busy week with a thriller BOYS HAND TOWNSEND ONLY SECOND LOSS OF SEASON

In a busy week that sent the Jefferson High Panthers into competition three times, the teams may have saved the best for last. Facing Whitehall at home on Tuesday in a make-up game of a contest previously delayed by weather, the JHS girls won 47-35 and the boys played very well but were edged by the league-leading Trojans 51-47. 

Friday the teams traveled to Deer Lodge where the trip seemed to take a toll on the boys, leading to a 45-27 loss to the Wardens. The girls came up barely short of a win, falling 38-33 to Deer Lodge. 

Saturday the teams hosted Townsend and the JHS gym was rocking before the night ended. After the girls lost 39-29, the boys came back from an eleven point deficit to defeat the Bulldogs 56- 47. It was only the second loss of the season for the Bulldogs and underscored how tightly matched the District 5B teams are this year.
