Our office can help you prepare for emergencies

RELATED

As September was “Preparedness Month,” it’s a good time for the Jefferson County Health Department to remind how it can assist you and your family with preparing for unfortunate events.

Some items you can gather are universal and needed during all disasters: food, water and batteries. Most of us have seen these required items lists before, but if you haven’t or if you’ve forgotten you can find one at do1thing.com/audiences/individuals. Do 1 Thing is an online 12-month preparedness program that focuses on a different area of emergency preparedness each month and provides a range of preparedness options for each topic. Every month has a low- or no-cost option to help you prepare.

A big portion of preparedness is communication. How do we get notified if something were to happen? Easily, it turns out. Did you know our county Disaster and Emergency Services department maintains a local radio station? Depending on where you are, you can tune into these stations to receive updates on an emergency situation: Basin, 98.3 FM; Boulder, 105.9 FM; Cardwell, 106.1 FM; Elk Park, 103.7 FM; Jefferson City, 100.3 FM; Montana City, 105.9 FM; and Whitehall, 106.5 FM.
