Other JHS board business… Record keeping, budget increase, and journalism concerns discussed

Tracking policies, making sure the latest versions are readily available, updating the school website with records of board meetings and minutes, and more is a bigger task than anyone on the Jefferson High staff or school board can manage long term, board chair Sabrina Steketee said February 21. Steketee said she has been trying to keep on top of all of that but it is taking more time than she can continue to give it. The least expensive software that might be able to handle that, she said, is around $4500 a year. She suggested the board create a new part time position of maybe two hours per week. It might be best if the person were dedicated solely to such tasks and could work other than in the school building to avoid interruptions, she said. 

Questions about whether it would be a union position, a contract position, or something else and about how easy it might be to find such a person were discussed. The board agreed to authorize the administration to look at options and report back.
