North County fire snuffed out in team effort

North County firefighters responded to flames up Kady Gulch on the evening of Aug. 10, and, by working together, crews were able to contain the fire within three hours from their initial response. 

The fire – which spread across seven acres – was no match for the 31 firefighters who arrived on the scene. Clancy, Jefferson City and Montana City crews also received assistance from two Department of Natural Resources helicopters, according to Jefferson City Fire Chief Keith Wear.

Clancy Fire Chief Tracy Leibbrandt was the incident commander, and the cause of the fire is currently listed as being of unknown origin. However, North County fire chiefs have their suspicions that the flames are human caused.
