No major flooding yet but be prepared, official says

Jefferson County hasn’t yet faced as many spring flooding issues as elsewhere in Montana, but residents are still encouraged to prepare.

“Our fairly moderate temperatures have, overall, kept flooding mostly in check,” Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Doug Dodge said by email, noting only the closure of Milligan Canyon Road west of Three Forks due to flooding.

Dodge said “our mountain snowpack is still behaving itself,” by which he means there hasn’t been a rapid snowmelt event, whether due to warm temperatures or rain falling on snow.
