Nine JHS athletes earn Academic All State honors

Nine Jefferson High boys’ basketball players, six girls’ hoopsters, five cheerleaders, and two wrestlers demonstrated the academic strength of the local school by earning Academic All-State honors. During the second quarter, all of those student-athletes earned at least a 3.5 grade point average while lettering in their sport. Besides the many hours of sports practice, the 22 students kept their eye on the ball when it came to classwork. 

Leading the way with a perfect 4.0 GPA was sophomore Simonie Mendenhall, a girls’ basketball player. Earning the Academic All-State recogntion: cheerleaders Jaydn Armstrong, Jadyn Bellander, Kathryn Twichel, Neve Alexander and Quinn Mann; boys’ basketball players Britton Peterson, Jaxson Yanzick, Lincoln Leary, Mead Blake, Josh Eckmann, Hayden Guisti, Noah Fader, Avery Stiles and Bryce Harrington; wrestlers Jeremias Auch and Drake Schake; and girls’ basketball players Natalee Stout, Simonie Mendenhall, Callie Warfle, Ellie Evertz, Leah Vossler and Paige Yanzick.
