New college-style courses at Clancy school

Middle-school students at Clancy Elementary will soon explore these questions and more in advanced, college-style classes, potentially pushing their learning ahead of regional peers. In the coming school year, Clancy’s school plans to roll out new Practical Arts courses including forensics, game theory, personal finance, and consumer science.

Seeking a low-cost instructional alternative to study hall periods, Superintendent Darry Mikesell and Junior High School Principal Kendra Fanning worked with faculty to develop advanced courses rarely seen in junior high. Teachers enthusiastically helped turn what had been relatively unproductive periods into dynamic and creative learning opportunities.
