Montana City School continues to mull levies

Montana City School is facing demographic change, and declining enrollment.

As the Montana City School Board nears a decision on asking voters to support an increase in school taxes this year, it is weighing options — and hoping for some help.

The school is considering two levies. One, to support the technology budget, was last put in front of voters in 2015, when they approved the current annual $40,000 budget for computers and student access to online systems. That funding expires this year. The board is considering asking for a renewal of those funds, but price increases for technology and related services have lifted the potential request to $80,000.

A second measure would aim to close a deficit in the school’s general fund. That proposal is currently estimated at $48,000, but the final numbers are still being analyzed.
