Montana City kids examine wildfires then and now

After six weeks of comparing and contrasting wildfires of 1910 with those of 2017, Montana City’s seventh graders were all fired up last week to present their findings.

Although it was not one of the fires studied by the group, the Holmes Gulch Fire last summer was fresh in the minds of the students. That fire displaced some of the seventh graders, making them aware of the unpredictability and costs of wildfires.

“It certainly put it in our face,” said Jacob Terry.
