Oh, how I’ve enjoyed my time in Jefferson County this summer. Coming from the small town of Troy, I’ve heard once or twice that if you’ve seen one small town, you’ve seen them all. But I’ve learned this summer that that isn’t always the case.

Both Boulder and Jefferson County are distinctive communities, and they’re very different from where I grew up. Although both Troy and Boulder are small towns surrounded by nature where everyone knows everyone, I felt distinctly more at home in Boulder than anywhere else I’ve ever lived.

The second or third time I came to Boulder before moving here was to clean my soon-to-be apartment above the Windsor Bar. I had cleared it with landlord Kayla Holman in advance, but she wasn’t around the day I came to town from Missoula.
