Mikesell to become new Clancy superintendent

Daryl Mikesell plans to resign as the K-5 principal at Montana City School at the end of the academic year to become the superintendent of Clancy Elementary School.

Mikesell’s announcement came during the Montana City School Board meeting on Mar. 13. Board President Cole Mosby made the announcement, but said details were still being worked out, and that he did not have a formal letter of resignation to discuss.

Mikesell will succeed David Selvig, who is retiring after eight years in the job. It will be a homecoming, of sorts, for Mikesell, who was a teacher at Clancy for six years. He left Clancy in 2012 to become the principal at Jefferson High School, a position he held until 2014, when he became the principal at Montana City School.

Elementary School for a year before arriving at Clancy in 2006. He has a Bachelor’s De– gree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership, both from Montana State University.

Since becoming the leader of Montana City School, Mikesell has led several education efforts, including the EdReady Program, which helps teachers with classrooms of students who have varying levels of math skills.

Mikesell taught second grade at Eastside Elementary School for a year before arriving at Clancy in 2006. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership, both from Montana State University.
