“Mary the Mayor” Vs. “Deputy Dan:” A look at the Jefferson County Commissioner candidates

On Nov. 8, county voters will elect a new commissioner to succeed longtime chair Leonard Wortman. Boulder Monitor editor Charlie Denison visited with candidates Mary Janacero Hensleigh and Dan Hagerty to provide voters an in-depth look on why they’re running and how they’d approach the position. Mary Hensleigh

A Jefferson County native, Mary Hensleigh grew up on her grandfather’s cattle ranch in Milligan Canyon. She attended a one-room schoolhouse with her brothers and cousins. Once the children reached high school age the family moved to Whitehall, a place Hensleigh has considered home ever since.
