Making what’s old new again

“When looking for Main Street improvements, sometimes you have to look down,” Heritage Center volunteer Ellen Rae Thiel said.

Not only does the Heritage Center house a menagerie of Jefferson County history, but so does its entry way.  The “historical step” — which reminds visitors that the building once housed Boulder’s bank — had started to disintegrate, Thiel told The Monitor. In the interest of safety and paying homage to history, the Heritage Center hired local J&D’s Concrete of Big Rock LLP to reconstruct the stairs adding some modern flair.“They did a wonderful job with a new, modern spin to the word ‘bank,’” Theil said.
