Maichel resigns from Council; Dawson named president

Citing intention to move outside Boulder, City Council member and president Shane Maichel resigned in a June 29 letter that was presented at the July 15 City Council meeting.

In his letter, Maichel expressed gratitude for the chance to represent Ward 1 for the last four years and said his resignation would be effective Aug. 1.

Maichel, whose term was set to end Dec. 31, told the Monitor in late June he chose not to run for reelection due to his plans to move. At the time he had not sold his home.
