Life Church resurrects the little town of Bethlehem

On Sunday, Dec. 4, starting at 6 p.m., Life Church of Boulder is taking the community back in time for its special Christmas program, “A Night in Bethlehem.”

“This is not just a program,” said event coordinator Bonnie Weinmeister. “It’s an experience.”

In addition to the service, which will feature children telling the Christmas story, blacklight human video, a flash mob and more, “A Night in Bethlehem” includes six shops where visitors can get souvenirs. These shops include a metal shop, a painting shop, a scribe shop, a pottery shop, a bakery and a carpenter’s shop. There’s also an opportunity for a family photo upon entering through the city gates.

And, of course, the town of Bethlehem’s main attraction is the stable, featuring Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.

Weinmeister said the showcase has something for all ages to enjoy.

“It’s as if you’re sitting inside the town of Bethlehem,” she said.

It’s taken a lot of work to recreate Bethlehem, Weinmeister added, but it’s been worth it, and she’s grateful to all who have stepped up to make this ambitious production possible.

“We are so blessed with so many volunteers,” she said, “and we are blessed to have close to 50 children participating. It will be a great Christmas event.”
