Levee almost finished

Jefferson County employee Sean Zimmerman runs an excavator along the Boulder River south of Riverside Special Needs Unit last Friday. The county has been building a levee to protect nearby property as well as Hubbard Lane and the Red Bridge, County Roads Supervisor Rory Parsons said by email. “The river had cut into the adjacent field and at some point it would [have] hit a critical elevation where the river would not return to its current channel,” he wrote. “The project moved the channel back into the old river bed [and] we will rip-rap the new levee to prevent further erosion. The project should be completed late this week.”.
