Lester L. Vossler, 80, of Boulder, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024.

Lester was born in Wishek, ND, on Sept. 13, 1943, while his parents were visiting family there.  He grew up in Circle, Mt., graduating from Circle High School in 1961. He briefly attended the Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD, before coming home for a few years to help his parents farm and/or ranch in Circle, Reed Point, and northern Wyoming.

In 1968, Lester began working for JC Penney. He spent the next several years as a foreman building stores across the Midwest. In 1972 he came to Boulder and established a construction business with his brothers. He spent the next 45-plus years building and remodeling many homes, garages and businesses in the community. In the later years he added dirt work to his offered services.

In 1979 he married Shirley and became a father to her son Cory. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He was active in the First Baptist Church for over 40 years, serving as a deacon and small group leader. He was instrumental in getting the church building built from the foundation to the pews and pulpit, along with the additions.

Lester took great pride in serving the community and making Boulder a better place for everyone. He joined the Boulder Volunteer Fire Department in 1972 and remained a faithful member for 50 years. Along with several friends and family, he put in countless hours to move the rodeo grounds out to their current location and continued to build and remodel the existing buildings that were enjoyed by so many just a few days ago.  When asked to help with getting the Boulder River School and Hospital carousel operational, he pitched in without hesitation. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing the kids’ faces when they rode the carousel.

Lester is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy, and mother, Adeline; three brothers, Larry, Lyle and Laurie; and a nephew, Dougie. He is survived by his wife Shirley; step-son Cory (Lynnette) Sena; brother LeRoy (Cathy) Vossler; sisters Lottie (Jim Richardson) Vossler and Lana (Ed) Hedlund; sister-in-law Patty Vossler; grandson Coby Sena; granddaughter Caitlyn Sena; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

He will be buried in the Boulder Cemetery followed by a celebration on Sept. 14 in the Boulder Catholic Center.
