Lance Martin Bullock, 62, of the Boulder Valley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Oct. 5, 2022 in Rankin, Texas. Lance was born in Butte to Sharon and Hap Bullock and raised in Basin. He grew up with his older sister Kathy, younger sister Micki and youngest brother Chris. Buster Bullock is their kid (cousin) brother.
As a teen, Lance loved spending his time hunting and working on anything mechanical he could get his hands on. As he got older, these passions turned into his career as a third-generation miner, reclamation expert, wind turbine site preparation and construction superintendent, and horse man.
These jobs came to compliment his lifelong passions for the adventurous life he lived, ranging from hitting a whale in Alaska; nearly crashing a bush plane loaded with relatives; laps around NASCAR tracks, karaoke champion, coaching Little League, and countless tales of hunting adventures.
While attending Jefferson High School, Lance met Rita. They fell in love and married shortly after graduation. Their adventures took them far and wide over their 42 years of marriage, and along the way they had their children Tyler, Jeremiah, Matthew and Nicholas. They raised their boys on the family ranch from the time they moved to the place. Realizing his dream of ranching, he carried on the legacy until the time of his passing. He dedicated years of his life to being one of the best examples of stewardship in the art of horse training. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.
Lance was preceded in death by his parents Hap & Sharon and Rita’s parents Allen and Luke. He is survived by his wife, Rita Bullock; sons Tyler (Tammy) of Basin, Jeremiah of Boulder, Matthew (Jessie) of Pasadena, MD, and Nicholas (Emily) of Boulder; sisters Kathy (Flint) and Micki(Monty), both of Basin; brother Chris (Stacy) of Boulder; Buster (Megan) of Boulder; and loving in-laws John (Mary) LeMieux of Manning, ND; Monica Stone (Ron) of Wallace, ID; Colette LeMieux (Vernon) of Montana City; David of Boulder; Alex (Mary) of Clancy; Bernadette Botz (Michael) of Billings; Maria Rogne (Steve) of Helena; and Pierre (Jamie) of Jefferson City.
He is also survived by four grandchildren (Autumn, Logan, Jasmine, and Leah); 13 nieces (Jena, Kylie, Rachelle, Miranda, Sarah, Morgan, Jill, Kendra, Jaden, Kaitlin, Ivy, Hailey, Ellie, Laura, Da, Mary, Aysia, and Landry); and 16 nephews (Dustin, Sean, Brad, Brian, Cody, Cole, Chad, Dylan, Wyatt, Trase, Joshua, Forrest, Daniel, Hayes, Andrew, Garrett, and Lane).
Lance was someone who you could spend hours with talking about anything that you needed. When you had his time you knew that he was invested in the conversation and he always saw the best in people and wanted to help them achieve full potential.
Lance requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Lance’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at St Catherine’s Community Center on Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
