After conquering Butte Central’s Blocktober Classic on Oct. 15, Lady Panther volleyball returned home to carry on their winning streak at home against the Park High Rangers and the Manhattan Tigers.
Panthers vs. Park High
The Lady Panther’s face-off with the Rangers took place on Tuesday, Oct. 18 in just three sets: 25-16, 25-17 and 25-22.
Junior MacKenzie Layng led the team in stats with 23 assists, eight digs and one kill. Senior Emma McCauley followed with 27 digs, one assist, one ace and one kill.
Sophomore Cameron Toney and Junior Arena Faler ran the Lady Panthers’ offense with 11 kills and seven digs each. Toney also earned one ace during the match.
Sophomore Erica Shields was next in stats with nine digs, one assist and one ace, followed by junior Maddy Averill with six digs and senior Jessie Harris with four aces, one block and one dig.
Junior Clara Genger earned two kills, one block and one dig during the match. Junior Haleigh Henschel and freshman Ryian Eveland tied in stats. Henschel received three digs while Eveland earned one kill, one block and one dig.
The JV team beat the Park High Rangers in three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 15-10 after the C-team came out on top in four sets scoring 25-12, 12-15, 15-10 and 15-11.
Panthers vs. Manhattan High
Still buzzing from their winning streak, the Lady Panthers entered their match against the Manhattan Tigers on Oct. 20 with all the energy and precision they have learned throughout the season, finishing the first set 25-7.
Henschel and Layng served seven consecutive times, giving the team a significant boost during the set.
In the second set, Henschel repeated her serving streak, bringing the team up on Manhattan 17-10. The Lady Panthers finished the set on top 25-13.
Unwilling to give up the match without a fight, the Tigers battled back in the third set only to fall to the Lady Panthers 25-18.
Layng led the team in stats again with 18 assists, seven digs and two aces. McCauley followed with 25 digs and one kill.
Swinging with consistent power and placement, Faler earned 17 kills throughout the match in addition to four blocks and four digs. Toney was next at the net with nine kills and eight digs.
Shields was next in stats with nine digs, three assists and one kill, followed by Henschel with eight digs and one ace.
Averill earned four digs while Harris earned one ace and one dig.
Ryian Eveland and her sister, Brooke, took to their home court together for the last time during the match against Manhattan. Brooke Eveland, a senior, earned one dig while her younger sister Ryian Eveland tallied two blocks.
The JV team took down the Tigers in four sets with scores of 25-16, 25-16, 14-16 and 15-9, following the C-team’s win in the same after scoring 25-17, 24-26, 15-12 and 15-13.
Jefferson High’s Lady Panther volleyball team finished second it the conference with its only two losses both belonging to Townsend. The team will travel to Manhattan to participate in the District 5B Tournament. The Panther’s first match starts at 1 p.m.
