Junior high wrestlers hit mats

The Boulder junior high wrestling season is underway with six athletes participating. This includes eighth graders Caleb Allen and Matthew Travis and sixth graders Cole Jeske, John Price, Hunter Steele and Jeyden Sullivan. 

First action for the wrestlers was on Tuesday, February 14 at the Butte East Middle School Mixer. The wrestlers were paired up by weight and two rounds were wrestled. Five Boulder wrestlers competed on the evening. In the first round Jeyden Sullivan at 102 pounds won his match by pin and Matthew Travis at 167 pounds won his match by an 8-3 decision. In the second round Sullivan and Travis both collected pins while teammate Caleb Allen at 188 pounds won by pin as well. The Boulder wrestlers finished the night with a 5-4 record. 

Next on the schedule was the Mining City Middle School Tournament on Saturday, February 18 at the Butte Civic Center. Nearly 300 wrestlers were in attendance. Competing for Boulder were Cole Jeske and John Price at 68 pounds, Jeyden Sullivan at 103 pounds, Hunter Steele at 125 pounds, Matthew Travis at 175 pounds and Caleb Allen at 188 pounds. Boulder was able to get two wrestlers into the semifinals when Travis and Allen won their first round matches. In the first consolation round Jeske and Steele were eliminated while Price and Sullivan advanced. Sullivan was able to win by pin.
