After almost a month without competition due to weather cancellations, the Jefferson High wrestlers returned to the mats this week and faced a very busy, productive week. The first competition came on Thursday, January 5, at a mixer in Cascade.
Highwood and Belt were at the competition as well. Wrestling for Jefferson were Cody St. Clair at 120 pounds, Tyler Dryer at 126 pounds, Jacob Travis at 138 pounds, Derek Nygaard at 145 pounds, Nate Brunett at 160 pounds, Noah Anspach and Brett Hale at 170 pounds, Drake Schake at 182 pounds, Dakota Dorn, Asher Oliver and Nick Workman at 205 pounds and Nathan Rasch at 285 pounds.
Jefferson came out very aggressive in the first round and collected wins from Cody St. Clair, Jacob Travis, Nate Brunett, Nick Workman and Nathan Rasch. The Panthers were 5-2 after the first round, but the second round found Jefferson going 2-6. Only Brunett and Anspach got their hands raised in round two. The third round had only four Panther wrestlers involved and they went an even 2-2. Collecting wins were Nygaard and Schake. Undefeated on the evening for Jefferson were Jacob Tra- vis, Nate Brunett, Noah Anspach and Drake Schake. T
