Jefferson High School is proceeding with a long-anticipated effort to resurface its track and make a number of improvements to its stadium complex. JHS is presently soliciting bids from potential contractors, and hopes to complete the project by August, 2025.

“It feels really good to be able to deliver this, and I think people are going to be really happy with what we’ve managed to accomplish,” said JHS superintendent Erik Wilkerson. “Our first priority was to get the addition constructed, and, due to a lot of the work being so heavily priced, we had to put the track aside initially. The track and stadium improvements will be funded through the same 2021 bond issue that raised more than $14 million in financing for the school’s recently completed building expansion. Roughly $1.5 million in funding remains.
