Old man winter put the stop on Jefferson High’s basketball games scheduled at Livingston last Saturday. But the teams did get in games with Lone Peak the day before the storm — and the Lady Panthers put on quite a show scoring 91 points while holding Lone Peak to 30. I believe that 91 points is a school record for team points in a girls’ game; if anyone knows something different, please let me know.
The victory was the girls’ fourth straight after a season-opening loss to Shepherd – and their third consecutive dominating performance against conference opponents. The scoring was evenly distributed; everyone got into the action. Cameron Toney led the way with 15 points, Josie Oxarart had 12 and Ryian Eveland, according to 406MTSports. Erica Shields scored 10, Brooklyn Miller 9, Brianna Layng 8, Michaela Morris 7, Parker Layng, Jaida Jurenka and Meredith Rieder 5 each, and Evelyn Hansen 4.
The boys, meanwhile, lost their third straight nail-biter, falling at Lone Peak 58-63. Wyatt Geir led the scoring in this one with 16 points, while Tyler Frydanlund scored 12 and Hunter Stevens 10. Kellen Meredith added 9, Caleb Morris 5, and Cobe Burnett, Jed Williams and Tyzer Zody 2 each.
