JHS Happenings in March

RELATED

The month of March is nearing the end and a number student activities and competitions have taken place. Winter sports have concluded and a couple of Panthers gained All-Conference recognition for basketball. Ellie Evertz and Josh Eckmann were named First Team All-Conference, and Noah Fader Second Team. Congratulations. Also, a number of students were recognized for Academic All-State for winter sports teams. March 13 also signaled the start of spring sports in Montana. The first events of spring will be this week with girls’ tennis and boys’ and girls’ track opening competition. The first golf meet of the year is scheduled for next week.

The JHS drama and music departments combined and produced the musical “Into the Woods.” It was a great show with a live orchestra, a beautiful set, and a well-prepared cast. Congratulations to Mr. Hesford, Mr. Bowman, Mrs. Norris, and a great group of talented students for putting on a great show. Opportunities like this in the arts can lead to future success; JHS graduate Hunter Steketee is a fine example as she has just signed her first recording contract.

The Spanish Club recently returned from a week-long Spanish emersion trip to Costa Rica. Nine students and parents made the trek along with surplus computers and clothes for an elementary school JHS works with in Costa Rica. Big thanks go to Mrs. Foster for making the trip possible and the countless hours spent planning and fundraising for the trip. The trip was rewarding and a learning experience for all involved.
